Shostakovich’s tragedy of adultery and murder stars the dramatic soprano Eva-Maria Westbroek as the heroine who suffers the vicissitudes of her treachery in the opera Lady Macbeth of Mtsensk. Brandon Jovanovich is her co-conspirator and lover, and James Conlon conducts.
Lady Macbeth of Mtsensk is sung in Russian with Met Titles in English, German and Spanish.
